My characters are from a high fantasy setting where magic comes from the soul and a spell against the user's morals is incredibly difficult to cast. They live in a city in the very far north that is p
retty much just a college for mercenaries, but with a small local population. People travel there to learn to fight because of the monsters that form in the glacial sheet just north of the city. It's constant combat between human civilization and the unyielding strength of nature.
