scholarship hasn't been paid, William rushes home to find out what's happened to his finances. Instead of his guardian, he only finds his house steward and a strange demon in the basement. This unwelcome visitor introduces himself as Dantalion and reveals William is the descendant of King Solomon of Israel, and as such, has the right to elect the interim ruler of Hell. However, William is a realist who doesn't believe in demons, magic, or anything of the sort.
