Can you clock an AI generated image?
Quiz introduction
The AI ones are from /r/AIArt on reddit. I verified that the images labeled as non-AI are from reputable sources. They are all by artists and photographers who have a reputation and an existing body o
f work AND/OR they were posted before 2021. Some are photos of products that have good reviews and are photographed from multiple angles. This quiz is HARD so try to take it slow and look at every image carefully :) TIPS: The most important thing to remember for this quiz in particular is that just because something is fake does not mean it's AI. Things can be photorealistic drawings, photoshopped, CGI, staged, etc. You are trying to spot AI generated images, not fake things. I think the best way to spot AI is to ask yourself: in a world where this is real, who made it? How and why? In a world where someone prompted an AI for this, what were they asking for? Look for things, especially in the background, that don't make any sense. Sometimes you'll see an object that seems like something but if you ask yourself what kind of thing it is, you won't be able to name it. Look at where things are. Does it make sense for the thing to be where it is? Look at symmetry and reflections. AI often doesn't understand how light reflects so mirrors almost never work properly in AI images. This also applies to reflections in eyes and other things. Older AI images in particular struggle with symmetry. AI sometimes also makes things more symmetrical than they should be. A lot of AI stuff these days has visible artifacts. Not all the AI images in this quiz have these artifacts but most of them do. Finally, make use of your own expertise. If you know about carpentry, think about how the structures might fit together. If you know about interior decorating, think about what the designer's intentions could have been. If you know about plants, try to identify the species pictured. If you know about hair and makeup, think about how these things might have been applied and why.
