Explore archived art, illustrations, catalogues, and more, and I'll give you a flower (+ meaning)
Pick some archived illustrations from the mid-19th century to mid-20th century! We all know and love the museum-type art from that time period. But what about the the fiber arts and the flower pressin
g? What about the sign painting and the wallpaper designing? Well, now, you can view such unconventional art from the comfort of a personality quiz! And there's gonna be a lot of wallpaper. Sources linked throughout.
Fair warning, this is mostly lighthearted, but cw: death mention for the last few questions... this is not a nostalgic quiz, because this time period was not that fun to be in.
Likewise, if you want to research further in the archive on your own, do so at your own risk, as there's of course some outdated language and themes, some mature material, a lot of death, and most of all, a lot of boring stuff to sift through lol. Such is the nature of historical archives.
If a choice includes a certain flower, that doesn't necessarily mean it's mapped to that certain flower result. Otherwise, the quiz would be less fun! Also, image titles are just for reference-- choose based on the image itself, not its title.
Huge thank you to the Internet Archive and HathiTrust. This quiz barely scratches the surface of all the incredible works these sites have made available to the public. These sites are what the internet was meant to be, in my opinion. And specific shoutout to the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute Library! They have a beautiful collection of rare books on art. https://archive.org/details/clarkartinstitutelibrary?tab=collection
