Despite consecrating her virginity to God, Cecilia was forced to marry a pagan nobleman. Apparently at the wedding she "sang in her heart to the Lord," which for some reason makes her the patron saint of music, leading more than one of my theater girl friends to choose Cecilia as their confirmation name. She managed to convince her husband not only to remain chaste, but to convert to Christianity, for which they were both martyred.
